The overall increase in crime incidents was led by burglary and theft. Burglary rose to 93 incidents last week, from 67 the week before. Theft went from 48 to 62.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a considerable percentage increase in assault, from 17 incidents per week to 28, and in vandalism, from 13 to 21 incidents.

There was one reported shooting last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week. There were also three incidents of robbery, up from one the week before.

There were 240 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of 12 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, eight involved arrests, such as for drug possession, down from 26 reported arrests the week before.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, West Anaheim, Northwest Anaheim, and Southwest Anaheim had the most reported incidents last week. West Anaheim and Southwest Anaheim were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

Crime in West Anaheim went up the most; incidents in the neighborhood have been rising for two weeks in a row. Crime reports in the Colony also rose, after declining the week before, and incidents in Northwest Anaheim are up considerably as well.

Regarding day and time factors, Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays produced the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Mondays and Thursdays, while incidents on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays went down. evening, early afternoon and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
