A new chocolatier and bakery has opened for business in the neighborhood. The new arrival, called Blue Canary Confections, is located at 124 W. 14 Mile Road — of the former, long-standing bakery Le Petit Prince.

The new shop offers a selection of handmade sweets, including chocolates, candies, bread and pastries. Look for baked goods like chocolate babka knots, buttermilk biscuits and cracked black pepper bread. Patrons can also take home confections like bourbon caramel bon bons and a mango ginger Pavlova.

Blue Canary Confections has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

Wood W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Feb. 2, wrote, "Great baked goods: baguette, salted caramel cream puff, ham and cheese croissant, cookies and palmier were our hauls from the first visit to this new French bakery and confection shop. “

Yelper Sarah A. added, “Delicious! The new owners have done a great job of brightening the place up, and the pastries were delicious — especially the almond croissant.”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Blue Canary Confections is open from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Wednesday-Saturday and 11 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)
