
Crime reports in Orange saw an overall decrease last month, for the second month in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents fell by about 12 percent, from 255 in December to 222 in January. Crime levels tend to follow seasonal patterns, and some of the most common offenses tend to decline in winter, which might partly explain the most recent downward trend.

The offenses most on the decline last month were assault and burglary. Assault fell from 16 reported incidents in December to five in January. Burglary incidents went from 60 to 49 for the month, or about an 18 percent decrease.
There were three robbery reports last month, and three vandalism incidents. Robbery incidents dropped from six offenses the previous month, while vandalism reports stayed even.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, theft reports went from 21 to 23.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays saw the most crime incidents last month. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Saturdays, Mondays and Sundays, while incidents on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays went up. late afternoon, late morning and midday saw the most crime last month on average each day.
