Crime incidents in Yorba Linda saw an overall increase last week, for the second week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 208 for the week of January 21, up from 198 the week before.

The overall increase in crime reports was led by burglary and theft. Burglary rose to 80 incidents last week, from 64 the week before. Theft went from 20 to 24. Reports of burglary have continued to grow for the last two weeks.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of assault went from eight to two. Incidents of vandalism fell from seven to four, and robbery went down from five to three.

There were 95 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of one from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, two involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from one reported arrest the week before.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Anaheim Hills, Baldwin Hills and Historic South-Central continued to have the most reported incidents last week.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Saturdays, Wednesdays and Sundays produced the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Sundays and Wednesdays, while incidents on Tuesdays, Fridays and Thursdays went down. Late afternoon, early morning and early afternoon saw the most crime last week.
