3rd Annual Young African Professionals Network Townhall
First up, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, the African Union's ambassador to the U.S., will join the local chapter of the Young African Professionals Network for a discussion at Africa House on Wednesday. There is no cost to hear and participate in this chat about affairs on the continent, including the AU's Wakanda One Village project to bring development to Zimbabwe and Zambia.

NPC Headliners Book Event: 'For Alison' by Andy Parker
Also on Wednesday, the father of journalist Alison Parker — who was killed by a gunman while conducting a live TV interview — will speak at the National Press Club about his efforts to end gun violence. The moderated discussion will be followed by a Q&A and a signing of his book, "For Alison: The Murder of a Young Journalist and a Father’s Fight for Gun Safety."

La Belle Hip-Hop Festival: #BalanceforBetter
Then on Friday, local nonprofit World Beats & Life is the American partner for a Belgium-based festival celebrating women in hip-hop. This free event at American University coincides with programs being held in Brussels and seven other cities around the world. There'll be a panel discussion, dance workshops, and a concert with performances by Toni Asante Lightfoot, Jay Mills and Pinqy Ring.
