In the documentary, a criminal court judge starts a running club on L.A.'s notorious skid row. The club's members — comprising homeless drug addicts, a recovering single mom and an paroled murderer — consider themselves among those least likely to succeed. As they train together to run in international marathons, they learn to dream big as they are re-acquainted with their own dignity.

The UCLA Asian American Studies Center presents The Stanley Kwok Lau and Dora Wong Lau Distinguished Lecture Series' "Southeast Asian Deportation Awareness." Currently, there are more than 16,000 Southeast Asian refugees at risk of being separated from their families and deported to unfamiliar countries.

The Southeast Asian Deportation Forum will center the voices of Southeast Asian refugees who are facing deportation and their loved ones who are actively advocating to resist deportation. The forum will discuss topics such as U.S. imperialism and military involvement in Southeast Asia, the refugee resettlement process, the criminalization of refugees and racist policies that lead to the deportation of refugees.
