Next up is Adams Morgan's Amsterdam Falafelshop, situated at 2425 18th St. NW (between North Columbia and North Adams Mill roads). With 4.5 stars out of 1,870 reviews on Yelp, the vegetarian and Middle Eastern spot, offering falafel and more, has proven to be a local favorite.

Yelper Maryam T. wrote, "Food was good and quick and hot. We ordered a wrap, two chicken plates and one chicken-and-lamb extra-meat plate. The white sauce was delicious, and the hot sauce was super hot. The staff was friendly and chatty and seemed to take pride in their product."

5. Maydan

Over in the U Street Corridor, check out Maydan, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 592 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Moroccan and Lebanese spot at 1346 Florida Ave. NW (between North 13th and North 14th streets). 

Maydan's bread is made to order in clay ovens. The menu features salads and spreads, as well as saffron lamb kebab, duck breast kebab and swordfish kebab. There's also a whole chicken with turmeric, coriander and Lebanese garlic sauce.
