Gas prices in Santa Monica continue to outpace the rest of the Los Angeles metro area, and drivers can expect to pay over a dollar per gallon more than the national average at the pump.

The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded on May 7 in Los Angeles was $4.11, according to the price-tracking app GasBuddy. That continues a trend where metro-area drivers are facing costs well above the U.S. average price of $2.88, and represents an 11% jump since April 7, when L.A. drivers paid an average of $3.71 per gallon. It’s also higher than this date a year ago, when the average price at the pump in Los Angeles was $3.74, while the national average was $2.81.

In Santa Monica, the most current GasBuddy numbers show an average price of $4.23 per gallon. But if you drive around, you can beat the average.

The lowest price in and around the city is $3.97, available at ARCO at 2555 Lincoln Blvd., while World, at 1801 Lincoln Blvd., is asking $3.99. The latter is one of the highest-rated stations in the city, with a 4 of 5 stars and 51 ratings by GasBuddy users. It includes a convenience store and ATMs.

Other stations in Santa Monica with below-average prices and above-average ratings on GasBuddy include:

  • 76 at 300 Lincoln Blvd.: $4.19 per gallon. GasBuddy users have awarded this station a 4.4 rating based on 22 reviews. Amenities include a convenience store and loyalty discount.  

  • ARCO at 332 Pico Blvd.: $4.09 per gallon. With a 3.6 rating and 54 reviews, the station offers a convenience store and ATM. User lyhnathan recently observed that it's a “very clean station.”

  • 76 at 1776 Cloverfield Blvd.: $4.13 per gallon. The station has racked up a 4.2 rating and 125 reviews. In addition to below-average prices, it offers a cash discount and convenience store.
