A new jazz and blues spot has debuted in the neighborhood. The new addition to Shadyside, called Con Alma, is located at 5884 Ellsworth Ave.
Con Alma specializes in dishes from South America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Asia, according to its website. The menu items range from pork belly tacos to vegetable plates to gorditas stuffed with plantains and goat cheese. On the drink list, there are Prohibition-inspired cocktails like the Cubano Chant with rum, coconut, cola syrup, soda and lime.
With a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival has been warmly received by patrons.
Simone H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 19, wrote, "While the menu focuses on smalls like tacos and appetizer bites, we chowed into the short ribs, which came with all the Latin extras."
Yelper Michelle K. added, “[Con Alma] offers creative dishes, well-crafted cocktails, an array of indoor and outdoor dining options and the best live jazz in Pittsburgh."
