We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which restaurants have been getting extra attention this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Portland businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Superdeluxe

Open since July 2019, this fast-food spot, which offers burgers and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Burgers" on Yelp.
Citywide, burger spots saw a median 2.4% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Superdeluxe saw a considerable 366.7% increase, maintaining a superior four-star rating throughout.
Located at 850 N.W. 13th Ave., Suite 1 in Pearl District, Superdeluxe offers a menu of traditional American fare, which includes burgers, chicken nuggets and fries. There's also a plant-based Impossible Burger available for those looking for a vegetarian option.
Hi-Top Tavern

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Cully's Hi-Top Tavern, the bar, which offers sandwiches and more, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp saw a median 2% increase in new reviews over the past month, Hi-Top Tavern bagged a dramatic 120% increase in new reviews within that time frame, maintaining a solid four-star rating.
There's more that's trending on Portland's bar scene: Tekka Bar: Handroll & Sake has seen a 26% increase in reviews, and The Star and Revolution Hall Rooftop Bar have seen 23.4 and 15.6% increases, respectively.

Open since May 2019, at 1717 N.W. 23rd Ave., the bakery and breakfast and brunch spot, which offers coffee, tea and more, has seen a 91.7% bump in new reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 1.7% for all businesses tagged "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis, Pine State Biscuits's review count increased by more than 160%.
There's more than one hot spot trending in Portland's breakfast and brunch category: Fried Egg I'm In Love has seen an 18.4% increase in reviews, and TILT has seen a 14.1% bump.
Pine State Biscuits offers a slew of buttermilk biscuit sandwiches, including The Mcisley with fried chicken, pickles, mustard and local honey. It also offers up a variety of specialties like the blueberry cornmeal pancakes and the shrimp and grits, which comes with green onions, mushrooms and bacon.

There's more abuzz in the world of Portland Thai: Bamboo House has seen a 33.3% increase in reviews.
