Looking to chow down on some Italian fare? A new spot has you covered. Called Piccolina, the new addition is located at 963 Palmer Alley NW in downtown Washington.
"The all-day café features a menu cooked over wood fire, alongside a variety of freshly baked breads inspired by the chef’s travels through Italy," the spot's website states.
Opened in CityCenter on July 29 by James Beard Award finalist chef Amy Brandwein, the restaurant's menu features lamb sausage and rapini, a ratatouille omelet, braised meatballs, rosemary focaccia and hand-spun mozzarella cheese.
Piccolina has received mixed feedback thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.
David H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 1, wrote, "We tried the white chocolate pistachio scone (a little crumbly, but delicious), the vanilla bombolini (also delicious), eggplant parmesan (pretty good) and the porchetta sandwich with mustard greens, grilled onion and provolone. The sandwich was very tasty — melty cheese, delicious house bread, tasty green salsa."
And Cness D. wrote, "Very tasty food, somewhat small portions, so you need two entrees. The salad alone is not sufficient. Baked goods are the strength —don't miss the bombolini."
Head on over to check it out: Piccolina is open from 7:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. daily.
