The Umoja Festival is the bay area’s largest free outdoor celebration of the African diaspora. Our annual music and culture festival is a full day of live local and internationally renowned musicians and dancers, interactive and experiential artists, and marketplace of curated artisan and food booths representing a wide array of different regions of Africa.

Celebrating the life and legacy of one of Oakland's finest —Michael "Dream" Francisco was one of Oakland’s prolific artists, locally renowned and globally respected, not only for his innovative and original style, but also for his community and social justice outlook. We plan to have live painting on wooden standalone panels along the perimeter of the event. There will also be a gallery section with completed artwork featuring local artists.
