A pedestrian was struck by a car and then trapped underneath it after the car flipped over onto its side Tuesday morning at a busy South Seattle intersection, emergency officials said. Police and medics responded to the scene, at the intersection of South Alaska Street and Martine Luther King Jr. Way South, at about 7:30 a. m. after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. The injured pedestrian was found trapped under the car as it lay on its side.

Seattle ranks as the fifth most expensive place to live in America, only beaten out by New York's Manhattan, San Francisco, Honolulu, and New York's Brooklyn, according to a study by the Council for Community and Economic Research. The study, which is called the Cost of Living Index, looked at 257 cities over the first quarter of 2019.
