A new Japanese spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Unagi-don, the new addition is located at 333 Ward Ave., Suite 3 in Kakaako.

Unagi-don offers full or half slabs of unagi (a rice bowl topped with fillets of grilled eel) paired with a variety of Hawaiian-style kettle chips and pickled vegetables. The new spot is located inside the Ohana Hale Marketplace.

Unagi-don has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 25 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Alvin O. wrote, "Unagi has good flavor and it had the perfect amount of sauce. The tsukemono (pickled vegetables) was delicious and added some acidity to the dish to cut into the fatty/rich flavor of the unagi balancing it out."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Unagi-don is open from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. on Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sunday.
