A new bar and traditional American spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called The Blind Pig, the new addition is located at 943 E. University Blvd., Suite 115, in West University.

The Blind Pig offers classic bar bites like onion rings, macaroni and cheese and barbecue chicken wings. Also expect to see items like fried cauliflower, a pulled pork sandwich and fried Cajun shrimp. Add a beer or a cold brew coffee to your order.

The fresh arrival has received mixed reviews thus far, with a three-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.

Emily G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 21, wrote, "Hidden gem in an alley. Very friendly workers and very clean as well. Definitely recommend you come and try the delicious food!"

Yelper Stephen F. added, “A promising start. Fundamentals are good — good menu, good layout, good location. Staff needs a lot more training, but it's their first couple of weeks in action. I hope they get it together. I've eaten here twice. Experienced reasonable wait times and enjoyed the food both times.”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The Blind Pig is open from 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Sunday, and 11 a.m.–1 a.m. Thursday-Saturday.
