Oahu Grill brings Hawaiian fare to KaimukiPhoto: Natalie M./Yelp

A new Hawaiian spot, offering salads and soups, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The new addition to Kaimuki, called Oahu Grill, is located at 1137 11th Ave., Suite 104.

Oahu Grill serves up recipes that "have been handed down from generation to generation," according to the business' website. That means the squid lu`au has no added sugar and the kalua pig is cooked traditionally without liquid smoke.

On the menu, expect to see a variety of smoked and fried meats, ranging from honeycomb tripe to kawaii lechon (fried crispy pork), as well as soups and stews. The island cobb salad with kalua pig is on Yelpers' list of must-try items; it's made with kalua pig, local cucumbers, lettuce, corn, tomatos and avocados and served with sweet onion dressing.

With a five-star rating out of 22 reviews on Yelp so far, Oahu Grill has been warmly received by patrons.

Kamalani W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 1, wrote, "The food was so 'ono. Talk about feeling like you went to your kupuna house and they prepared a feast for you."

Yelper Adam X. added, “Pop John makes a killer lau lau...The pork was so wet and tender even at the end of the day. We were all floored how good it was. The salmon lomi was a great side. If you're looking for an amazing meal at a very reasonable price, you gotta try this spot. ”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Oahu Grill is open from 10:30 a.m.–9 p.m. daily.
