1. Pho Long Thinh

Topping the list is Pho Long Thinh. Located at 1080 Saratoga Ave., Suite 12 in West San Jose, the Vietnamese spot, which offers soups and more, is the highest-rated affordable Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose, boasting four stars out of 338 reviews on Yelp.

Banh mi, fried egg rolls and vermicelli are on the menu.

Next up is downtown's Tofoo Com Chay, situated at 388 E. Santa Clara St. With 4.5 stars out of 1,023 reviews on Yelp, the vegetarian, vegan and Vietnamese spot has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for an inexpensive option. 

Yelper Connie C. noted, "This is phenomenal vegan pho, bun bo hue and bun rieu! All the noodle soups here are amazing."

3. Pho Ga Hung

East San Jose's Pho Ga Hung, located at 1818 Tully Road, Suite 120, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the budget-friendly Vietnamese spot 4.5 stars out of 83 reviews.

Bun mieu, bun bo hue, gizzards and more are on the menu.

Carena N. noted on Yelp, "Since I was a child, this has always been my go-to banh mi place and to this day, it's still my favorite banh mi place in all of the Bay Area."

5. Com Tam Dat Thanh

Over in East San Jose, check out Com Tam Dat Thanh, which has earned four stars out of 777 reviews on Yelp. Dig in at the Vietnamese spot by heading over to 1055 Tully Road, Suite A.

The spot offers broken rice, shrimp cakes, bone broth and more.

Yelper Joseph L. wrote, "I've been going here since I was a kid for rice plates. My go-to is suon nuong (grilled pork chop) with tau hu ky (bean curd skin with shrimp). The pork here is great and smokey."
