First up is Gay 4 U, a vegan spot.

On the menu, expect to find a burger made out of chickpeas, and chicken tortilla soup, with non-GMO soy chicken, carrots, cilantro-lime cashew coconut cream and chile oil in a green chili broth served with tortilla chips.

With a 4.5-star Yelp rating out three reviews, Gay 4 U has been getting positive attention.

Andrew H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 15, wrote, "The food is better than ever. I had the Lucid Dream Chicken and Waffle sandwich with fries. The waffle had the right amount of crunch and the chik'n was classic and delicious. The fries were crisp and tasty."

Yelper Peter N. added, “I opted for the chicken and waffle burger with fries — alas, it came with onion, which we had made clear I didn't want. Despite that, it was super tasty, if a touch pricey.”

Eternal

247 Fourth St., Produce & Waterfront

Next, Eternal is a vegan breakfast and brunch spot, offering doughnuts and more.

Look for vegan omelets, "chicken" and waffle, a tofu scramble and a hash brown dish with vegan bacon and cheese for breakfast. In the afternoon, consider the mushroom risotto burger and the carne asada vegano plate with beyond meat and pico de gallo on organic tortillas.

With a 3.5-star rating out of 43 reviews on Yelp, Eternal is still finding its way, but it's early days.

Yelper SarahJayn K., who reviewed Eternal on Nov. 11, wrote, "The food was good, brought out in a timely manner and [was] everything I'd wanted and expected. This is one of the better vegan food eats places in the Bay, and one of the better breakfast places at that."

M B. noted, "They were out of three menu items we wanted. We waited 20 minutes for our coffees and 50 minutes for food. When it arrived, our order was messed up, cold and the fried food was burnt."

Eternal is open from 7:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Vegan Mob

And last but not least is Vegan Mob, a barbecue and soul food spot.

The best sellers, according to the business website, are the Mob Plate, with either smoked-plant based brisket, ribs, links or barbecue fried shrimp with a choice of three sides (collard greens, fruit salad and Cajun potato salad); the gumbo, which is a Louisiana-style dish with vegan shrimp and sausage in Creole spices; and the barbequito, which includes tortilla stuffed with smoked plant-based brisket, smackaroni and cheese, slaw, barbecue beans, guacamole and a side of Mob sauce.

Vegan Mob's current rating of four stars out of 64 reviews on Yelp indicates a solid response from patrons.

Yelper Michael C., who was one of the first users to visit Vegan Mob on Nov. 24, wrote, "We had the Mob plate with brisket, smackaroni and cheese, barbecue beans and Cajun potato salad. Oh my goodness! Brisket with the barbecue sauce was just like having real meat."

Vegan Mob is open from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 5 p.m.–9 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m.–6 p.m. on weekends. (It's closed on Monday.)
