Wondering where to find the best bars near you?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable bars in Pittsburgh, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to fill the bill.

1. Shale's Cafe

Topping the list is Shale's Cafe. Located at 1208 Fifth Ave. in Bluff, the bar is the highest-rated cheap bar in Pittsburgh, boasting 4.5 stars out of 17 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper HN S. wrote, "During non-event days, It attracts a nice, down-to-earth crowd and is a comfortable place to grab a beer after work. The beer selection could be better, but there's always one or two craft beers on tap and a few bottles in the fridge. The drinks are served strong and the shots are generous. With a better beer selection it could be a five-star spot."

2. Smokin' Joe's

Southside Flats's outpost of the well-known chain Smokin' Joe's, located at 2001 E. Carson St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the low-priced bar and traditional American spot four stars out of 96 reviews.

We looked there for more about Smokin' Joe's.

"Smokin Joe's has been providing craft and imported beers to the masses for almost 20 years," according to the history section of the business's Yelp profile. "There are more than 60 beers on tap and hundreds of bottled beers. This spot offers reasonable prices with nightly draft beer, food and liquor specials."

3. Sanremos Pizza Restaurant & Bar

Sanremos Pizza Restaurant & Bar, a bar that offers pizza and salads in Central Business District, is another low-priced go-to, with four stars out of 13 Yelp reviews. Head over to 10 Market St. to see for yourself.

This spot, which offers a full bar along with homemade dough and sauce, provides bites like pizza pies, calzones, hoagies and more. Look for the chicken parmesan-stuffed calzone.
