San Jose Police Department Takes Down Violent Gang in Massive OperationSJPD

The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) conducted a massive operation, resulting in the arrest of multiple violent gang members responsible for a spate of crimes spanning from fall 2022 to June 2023, according to a press release by the department.

The crimes committed by the gang ranged from attempted murder, armed robberies, assaults, possession of firearms, to possession of narcotics. The criminals had created an atmosphere of fear amongst residents, necessitating a swift and decisive response from law enforcement agencies.

Over a three-week period between May 23rd and June 15th, the SJPD worked in conjunction with multiple local law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Several units within the department, including the Gang Investigations Unit (GIU), Gun & Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (G.H.O.S.T.), Assaults Unit, and Patrol Officers, collaborated in this high-stakes operation to combat the growing gang problem in San José.

As a result of their combined efforts, officers managed to identify the suspects involved in the series of violent crimes across the city. They executed multiple search warrants throughout San Jose and at one location in East Palo Alto, and the operation led to the arrest of nine adults and three juveniles for warrants and other on-view offenses. The suspects were subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail or Juvenile Hall, depending on their age.

Searches at these residences not only yielded multiple firearms and ammunition, but also gang indicia, narcotics, and evidence of other crimes. The success of the operation showcases the dedication of the SJPD and its officers, as well as the commitment of local law enforcement agencies to working collaboratively to ensure a safer community for all.
