Dreadful details surrounding Maya Millete's disappearance have been brought to light as her husband Larry is accused of attempting to use dark love spells and witchcraft to prevent their marriage from falling apart, according to The Sun. Maya, who was last seen at her home in Chula Vista, California, on January 7, 2021, has been missing for over two years now, with her husband Larry arrested in October 2021, on charges of murder and possession of an assault weapon.
As CBS News reported, Maya's family and friends never believed that she would willingly abandon her three children. Unsurprisingly, they were alarmed to discover unsettling evidence pointing towards Larry's obsession with witchcraft and spells in an attempt to regain control over Maya and save their relationship.
Larry's online correspondence with spellcasters to help improve his marriage was revealed,“There are people on the internet that'll sell you for five bucks, you know, how to make a spell that will get her to be attracted to you," Larry told CBS. Astonishingly, Larry even created an altar-like setting featuring a picture of the couple, surrounded by candles and blood, to perform his rituals.

Larry's communication with spellcasters grew increasingly sinister over time, even requesting them to hurt Maya so that she would have to depend on him.
Maya's deteriorating relationship with Larry was apparent to her loved ones, and her consultation with a divorce attorney the week she went missing was a clear indicator of her intent to end the marriage, according to the CBS News report.
Her husband Larry, however, had other plans. In December 2020, he emailed a spellcaster demanding a hex that would leave Maya injured and dependent on him. But Larry didn't stop there, as The Sun unveiled, he later requested another spell to punish and incapacitate Maya, ensuring she couldn't leave the house.
While Larry pleaded not guilty to the charges and claimed Maya left on her own accord, his trial was temporarily halted in 2022 due to his mental health issues, as reported in NBC San Diego. The preliminary hearing took place in early 2023, with prosecutors showcasing phone call records and text messages that revealed Larry's obsession with Maya’s infidelity, along with his increasingly dark and troubling attempts at witchcraft and hexes to regain control over her. Larry's claims, however, were countered by his attorney Bonita Martinez, who portrayed Maya as a partier capable of abandoning her family. Still, Maya's friends and family remain steadfast in their belief that she would never leave her children behind.
As NBC San Diego outlines, Larry’s readiness conference in May 2023 ended with a denied request to allow him daily phone calls with his children for his improving mental health. The judge argued against the request, stating that the protective order was meant to protect the children, not Larry.
With Larry's murder trial set to begin on September 14, 2023, as noted by Buzzfeed News, the horrifying details of dark magic and deceit that surround this case have sent shockwaves through communities worldwide. Despite Larry's arrest, the search for Maya Millete's whereabouts continues, with friends, family, and volunteers doubling their efforts to find her and bring closure to her loved ones.
