An adult male driver was behind the wheel of a 2004 Chevy Tahoe when it hit an adult female and two juvenile females as they were crossing King Road in a westbound direction outside of any marked crosswalk. Although the light was green, the vehicle was heading southbound at the time of the incident. After the collision, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The adult female and one juvenile pedestrian were transported to hospitals with serious injuries and stabilized. Sadly, one juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection of South King Road and Ocala Avenue had to be closed for several hours to allow authorities to conduct their investigation before reopening it East Bay Times reports. While details concerning the cause of the accident remain unknown, the heart-wrenching incident marks the 27th traffic fatality in San Jose in 2023. This number, however, is a reduction compared to the same time last year, when San Jose police had already investigated 39 traffic fatalities.
