
Shortly after midnight, tragedy struck South San Jose as a two-car collision resulted in one man losing his life and another fighting for survival with life-threatening injuries. The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Snell Avenue, close to Communications Hill, as reported by the San Jose Police Department.
Paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene at 1:10 a.m., where they found both men had been ejected from their vehicles according to NBC Bay Area. Upon their arrival, the victims were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where one of them tragically passed away. The identities of the victims have not been released as of yet.
The gruesome accident led to the closure of Capitol Expressway in both directions between Snell Avenue and Vistapark Drive for several hours as KRON4 News revealed. Police have been investigating the cause of the crash and have yet to reveal any information concerning additional passengers or contributing factors to the collision.
This crash comes just over 24 hours after an infant was tragically hit and killed in East San Jose. With the most recent event marking the 28th traffic fatality in the city this year, an unsettling pattern of deadly traffic collisions emerges.
