The Corvette's driver, 39-year-old Edwin Vincent Hoffman from Oceanside, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by officers not far from the wreckage and was later placed under arrest, facing multiple charges that include felony driving under the influence (DUI), felony hit and run and gross vehicular manslaughter.
The investigation continues into the circumstances of the crash.
