The series of residential burglaries that plagued Palo Alto from October 2022 to May 2023 has finally come to a conclusion, as detectives apprehended and charged the suspect, 23-year-old Cesar Carmona of Santa Clara, with multiple counts of burglary and vandalism.
The burglaries started off as isolated incidents, but it didn't take long for the authorities to identify a concerning trend that spanned several months, beginning on October 22, 2022. Working in collaboration with the San Jose and Fremont Police Departments, detectives finally zeroed in on Carmona as the suspected perpetrator.
It seems that Carmona's luck had run out, as on July 20, 2023, the Santa Clara Police Department arrested him on unrelated charges. Five days later, on July 25, the arrest warrant for the residential burglaries was served, and Carmona was charged with five felony counts of residential burglary in Palo Alto, alongside charges for three additional incidents in San Jose, and one in Fremont. In total, Carmona was slapped with seven counts of burglary, four counts of attempted burglary, and four counts of vandalism, all felonies.
