On Sunday two suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting in Sunnyvale, California, with one of them being caught while trying to flee the country. Filmon Kifle, one of the suspects, was apprehended at the San Francisco International Airport just as he was attempting to board a flight to Istanbul, Turkey, according to CBS News San Francisco.

The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, when gunfire was reported in the 300 block of East Washington Avenue in Sunnyvale. Officers from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety arrived on the scene and found two adult male victims, one of whom was suffering from gunshot wounds. The wounded victim was given first aid and transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.

Upon arrival, officers pursued one suspect, Gregory Law, who allegedly attempted to escape on foot. During the chase, Law reportedly discarded a semi-automatic handgun which was later recovered by the police. Law was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of various offenses, including robbery and attempted murder, according to the CBS report. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety believes that Law and Kifle were connected to the shooting and their investigations led to Kifle's attempted escape to Turkey.

Kifle's arrest was facilitated by airport authorities and law enforcement. He was promptly taken into custody, as reported by KRON4, preventing his escape to Istanbul. Both Kifle and Law were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges including robbery and attempted murder. The case is still under investigation, and detectives are urging anyone with relevant information to contact them.

The investigation is ongoing, and it is expected that further details will emerge as the case progresses.
