Today the Santa Clara Police Department reported a harrowing incident that transpired in the 3500 block of Homestead Road. A pair of suspects were interrupted by an employee while shoplifting a cart filled with items from a local business. In their criminal endeavor, the suspects forcefully attempted to snatch the employee's phone when confronted, according to Santa Clara PD's Twitter account.
This brave employee leaped into action instead. In pursuit of evidence to aid law enforcement, the employee captured photographs of the suspects' vehicle. This act was met with hostility as the suspects sought to quickly run the employee over but thankfully failed in their cruel attempt.
The employee promptly dialed 911, providing an accurate description of the vehicle. Santa Clara officers apprehended the suspects at El Camino Real/Los Padres Blvd. The suspects were positively identified as the perpetrators of the robbery. A firearm and narcotics were discovered in the vehicle, leading to their arrest and booking into county jail.

The employee emerged from this chilling incident unscathed. Nevertheless, the Santa Clara Police Department implores the community to prioritize personal safety over evidence-gathering in future instances of criminal conduct. While the actions of those willing to confront crime on all fronts are valiant, the Police Department urges citizens to contact 911 immediately to ensure that they do not place themselves in life-threatening situations.
