Dentist Charged for Illegally Recording Patients, Including Minors Near San Jose

A Sunnyvale dentist was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and peeping after a hidden camera was discovered in his office's bathroom. On Sunday, July 26, 2023, a victim found the video camera in the restroom and immediately reported it to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS).

In the ensuing investigation, led by the Sunnyvale DPS, other victims were identified from the footage, including two juveniles. The disturbing case revolves around the commercial dental practice of Zaid Yousif Sharma, DDS, located at 877 W. Fremont Ave., #C2, Sunnyvale, California.

According to the press release issued by Sunnyvale DPS on August 11, 2023, search warrants were executed at Sharma's dental office and residence in Santa Clara, California on August 9. Digital media containing additional footage of victims in the restroom, including those of the two minors, were discovered during the search.

Zaid Yousif Sharma was subsequently arrested without any incident and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on multiple charges. The California Dental Board was also notified of the incident. The full extent of Sharma's depravity and the potential consequences of his actions remain to be seen as the investigation is ongoing.
