The family and friends of 68-year-old Jose Martinez face an agonizing wait as police and volunteers continue a desperate search in the Lakeside area. Martinez, who has several medical conditions and requires medication, was reported missing from a care facility in unincorporated El Cajon on Thursday, August 17 according to San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Last seen at around 9:00 p.m. by the facility's staff, Martinez is described as a Hispanic man standing about 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 143 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff’s Substation answered to the care facility and began combing the area for the missing man per a 10News article.
A Sheriff's Command Post was established at the Awaken Church located at 950 North Second Ave in El Cajon. The Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) Unit also activated. SAR Volunteers swiftly responded and searched the area throughout the night, but Martinez remains missing as reported on the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's website.
