East San Jose has witnessed a fast-growing vegetation fire near Clayton Road that has spread to over 60 acres, endangering lives and threatening multiple structures in the area according to SJFD. Firefighters and responders are working tirelessly to battle the fury of the flames and protect the local community.
Early reports from the San Jose Fire Dept. indicate that the fire started as a Tier 3 vegetation fire and has since engulfed an additional 30 acres, escalating the situation. The blaze, now being called the #ClaytonFire, has seen firefighting units effectively working together, including the San José Fire Dept. and CAL FIRE, which has even siphoned water from Lake Cunningham to help douse the fire.
