
70-year-old Michael Goodin was recently fatally stabbed at a trolley stop in Logan Heights, San Diego.
According to FOX 5 San Diego, two suspects, 36-year-old Rafael Chavarria and 29-year-old Angelo Soto Vargas, have been arrested in connection with Goodin's tragic death. The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) reports the victim was attacked at the Harbor Drive trolley site around 10:30 p.m. on August 24.
As the official statement from the SDPD detailed, Goodin got involved in a brief verbal argument with a small group of people prior to the fight breaking out. During this altercation, the victim was brutally stabbed at least once in the chest, ultimately to fatally succumb to his wounds on the scene.
The SDPD's Homicide Detectives stepped in, piecing together the puzzle of this crime, to quickly identify Chavarria and Vargas as suspects. Their pursuit led to Chavarria's apprehension by security officers from the Metropolitan Transit System at another trolley stop on Monday, August 28, at 8:45 p.m. Vargas was found and arrested the following day at a camper he was residing in along the 3300 block of K Avenue in San Diego.
Both suspects have been booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder and elder abuse.
