On August 23, 2023, the San Jose Police Department apprehended Nathan Addison, a man suspected of brutally stabbing his 6-year-old nephew, Jordan Cam Walker, and his grandmother, Delphina Turner, in their apartment. Addison, 27, now behind bars, is facing charges for the heinous double murder that occurred on August 4, 2023, and has left his family reeling with grief.
The tragic event first unfolded as San Jose police officers received a call for a welfare check at an apartment located in the 1600 block of Parkmoor Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of Delphina Turner and little Jordan Cam Walker, both bearing stab wounds. Following a thorough investigation, the police identified Nathan Addison, a resident of San Jose, as the prime suspect.
Addison was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail with no bail, facing accusations of murder. He happens to be Jordan's uncle and Delphina's grandson. Morian Walker, Jordan's grandfather, revealed that Addison was his daughter's half-brother, and that he had not been in contact with him for nearly 20 years.
Investigators have been tight-lipped about the motive behind these merciless killings, stating that "the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation". However, it’s clear that the victims' family has been significantly affected by the revelation of the suspect's identity.
Young Jordan Cam Walker was remembered as an extremely intelligent and outgoing child, already exhibiting a natural athletic talent which mirrored his parents and appeared to have a bright future ahead of him. His ability to quickly learn and excel in soccer was mentioned by his grandfather, who was exceptionally close to him, in an interview with KRON4.
Like Jordan, Delphina Turner was also deeply connected to her family. The Mercury News published an obituary about the 71-year-old woman, detailing her as a longtime Sunnyvale resident who dedicated over 35 years of service to NASA, eventually moving to San Jose to be closer to her loved ones. Delphina was remembered as an influential and beloved member of the community.
An outpour of support was evident following the heinous and heartbreaking incident, with a GoFundMe page set up for Jordan's grief-stricken parents, helping to raise funds for funeral expenses and grief counseling. Loneliness and immense grief have enveloped the once-strong household.
Nathan Addison is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on charges for the killings. Meanwhile, the family and community are left to process these acts, attempting to come to terms with the tragic loss of a young, promising life and a loving grandmother who meant so much to those around her.
