A tragic incident in El Cajon has left a man dead and a wider community coping with the consequences of addiction. Staff at El Cajon Inn & Suites found a 58-year-old man unresponsive in his room yesterday, after not having been seen for several days, according to the El Cajon Police Department. The man was staying at the motel on the Equus voucher program, which provides short-term housing assistance to those in need, and his identity has not been released pending notification to his family.
Once authorities arrived and confirmed the man's death, an investigation uncovered drugs and drug paraphernalia in his room, the apparent signs of an overdose.
