Two teenagers were cited for threatening a man with what turned out to be a BB gun, but the incident could have had more severe consequences, according to a Mountain View Police Department news release.
On August 30th, just after 9 pm, a Davis resident and his friend were approaching by three teens. Two of the teenagers attacked the man before brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. However, upon closer inspection by law enforcement, the weapon was revealed to be a metal BB gun that closely resembled an actual firearm. The incident concluded with the swift citation of the two male teens and the involvement of their parents - nobody was seriously injured.
The consequences for both the perpetrators and the victims in such situations can quickly escalate into something more severe. The uncanny resemblance to a real gun increases the possibility of reactions from law enforcement that could lead to tragic outcomes.
