A traffic fatality has struck the city of San Jose, as the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) investigates a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to their recent release

On Thursday, at approximately 9:28 PM, officers arrived at the intersection of Landess Avenue and Morrill Avenue, responding to a report of a fatal collision. A 2007 Lexus sedan, driven by a lone adult male, was said to be traveling eastbound on Landess Avenue at the intersection, when tragically striking an adult male pedestrian crossing southbound in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics, while the Lexus driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.

The identity of the victim is yet to be released, as the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office is in the midst of confirming the victim's identity and notifying their next of kin.

As reported by the SJPD, Detective Dellicarpini of the San José Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit is actively directing the ongoing investigation.
