A female San Diego State University student had a horrifying experience as a peeping tom invaded her yard, captured staring at her through her bedroom window on her Ring Camera. According to CBS 8, the incident resulted in increased fear for not only her, but her female neighbors as well, who attribute the issue to the lack of functioning streetlights in their neighborhood, which they believe makes them more susceptible to such crimes.

The student filled out a report on the city's Get It Done app and sought the attention of CBS 8 in hopes of making the city of San Diego aware of the burnt out streetlights in their area. This incident comes several years after a series of peeping tom incidents in Pacific Beach from September to October 2018, resulting in the conviction of 48-year-old James Wayne Hubbard, who was sentenced to 364 days in jail for his crimes.

Reddit post yesterday has gone viral discussing incidents involving sexual predators lurking around Pacific Beach, taking photos of women and harassing them, adding more fuel to the fire of anxiety amongst the residents.

Although the authorities have taken action against past peeping tom offenders such as James Wayne Hubbard in 2018, there's a need for more proactive measures to ensure the safety of the community. The city of San Diego and the College District's City Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera have been contacted by CBS 8, and while the city’s transportation department has mentioned a scheduled streetlight repair in the College Area at Remington Road and Collwood Boulevard, it's noted that this is about a mile away from where the most recent incident occurred.
