In Mira Mesa, a neighborhood located within San Diego, a stabbing occurred yesterday evening, leaving a man hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and another man arrested. The incident took place at an apartment complex at 9669 Gold Coast Drive.
On Monday, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) responded to a call around 8:40 p.m. informing them of a physical altercation between two men at the location. The altercation ended with one man, a 40-year-old man, stabbed in the upper abdomen. The injured man was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital where it was determined that his wounds were non-life threatening. As per Fox5 San Diego, the motives behind the altercation and subsequent stabbing are still being investigated.
Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Jonathan Boaz, remained on the scene and surrendered to the police without any resistance, according to the Times of San Diego. Boaz was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The circumstances leading up to the altercation remain unclear, and investigators are seeking any additional information to help clarify the events leading to the stabbing. SDPD's Northeastern Division is in charge of the investigation.
