Update: Tragic Train-Pedestrian Collision in Gilroy Leaves 1 Dead

Update: At around 8:45AM on 08/15/23, Gilroy PD was notified of a train-pedestrian accident at the intersection of Leavesley Road and Monterey Road. Upon arrival of officers, life-saving efforts were attempted but unfortunately, the female pedestrian passed away. Her identity is currently being withheld pending family notification. The Union Pacific Railroad Police, with assistance from the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office, is responsible for carrying out the investigation of the collision.

A train collision at the intersection of Leavesley Road and Monterey Road in Gilroy, CA, has led to significant traffic disruptions and a road closure, according to a Gilroy Police Department advisory published recently.
