Milpitas Police activity this weekend:
On Friday evening, a weapon-brandishing suspect stole several items from a local store, only to be apprehended swiftly by alert law enforcement officers. The dramatic encounter was detailed in a Facebook post published on August 21st, 2023, which described the suspect's bold act of flaunting an imitation firearm at an employee who attempted to intervene. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was arrested and charged with robbery, resisting arrest, possession of brass knuckles, and brandishing an imitation firearm.
Another encounter took place on Saturday night when a routine patrol led an officer to approach an unhoused 53-year-old male near the 300-Block of Ranch Dr. The man, who had outstanding warrants for burglary and disorderly conduct, was promptly arrested and booked into jail.
On Sunday morning, an astute midnight shift officer took action upon spotting a vehicle with possible connections to an attempted homicide case in a neighboring jurisdiction. Upon notifying the neighboring agency, the vehicle was impounded as evidence, contributing to the ongoing investigation of a potentially dangerous individual.
Later that day, another seemingly unprovoked incident unfolded. A 56-year-old unhoused male, near Starlite Park, threatened a victim with a knife. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect, who was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife. He was subsequently booked into jail for brandishing a weapon.
