Last Friday, August 25th, a United States Postal Service (USPS) supervisor was, assaulted by one of his employees. According to Fox 5 San Diego, the incident occurred at around 5:47 p.m. after an argument broke out between the supervisor and an employee.
Officer Darius Jamset Jee of the San Diego Police Department shared that during the conflict, the employee—a USPS driver—inexplicably brandished a knife and slashed the supervisor, leaving him with a deep cut. The attacker then fled the scene and remains at large. The victim was promptly hospitalized for his injuries but has since returned home to recover. The police are actively searching for the assailant—a man in his 40s with black hair, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds.
What sparked such an grevious act remains uncertain, but some employees have come forward to share possible insights. CBS 8 reported that one employee described the attacker as having "problems with everybody." Meanwhile, another employee expressed their bewilderment as to why the assailant still had a job and mused that the supervisors might have been afraid of him taking action against them. However, San Diego Police told CBS 8 that they believe the stabbing to be an isolated incident.
As the investigation continues, the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office is working alongside the San Diego Police Department to get to the bottom of this troubling event. Calls for information are being made, urging anyone with relevant knowledge to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
