Early Saturday morning, an unsuspecting 22-year-old man became the target of a violent carjacking while driving around the Grantville neighborhood, San Diego. As he came to a stop at the intersection of Twain Avenue and Mission Gorge Road, two men brutally ripped him from his friend's white Nissan Murano, leaving him with head injuries and a lasting psychological impact.
According to FOX 5 San Diego, the victim was driving at around 4:46 a.m. when he halted at the intersection and was confronted by two Hispanic men. One assailant struck the young driver in the head with a handgun before forcibly removing him from the vehicle. The suspects then sped away from the scene, last seen heading southbound on Mission Gorge Road.
As reported on ABC 10 News, the shaken victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was unable to provide the license plate number of the stolen SUV to responding officers, as the car belonged to a friend. The injured young man was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of his minor injuries.
The San Diego Police Department continues to search for the perpetrators and has assigned robbery detectives to handle the ongoing investigation, as Times of San Diego has mentioned. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this harrowing incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
