The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the South Gate Police Department (South Gate PD) collaborated in a joint operation to take an astonishing 4,000 pounds of methamphetamine off the streets of Los Angeles.
The substantial methamphetamine haul - an astonishing 4,000 pounds - taken off the streets by the Los Angeles Strike Force as a result of joint operations from the FBI and South Gate PD held a frightening potential impact for the communities it may have reached. As pointed out in a study published in Forensic Science International, a lethal dose of methamphetamine is approximately 200mg, noted here on NIH. On performing a simple conversion of the total haul weight to milligrams and dividing by the known lethal dosage, it surfaced that the seized methamphetamine represented over 9 million lethal doses. This stark figure underscores the significant role law enforcement agencies play in safeguarding our communities and reiterates the continuous battles fought against drug trafficking.
The FBI's official Twitter account announced yesterday that the significant drug haul was the result of efforts by the Los Angeles Strike Force.
