The townships of Woodside and Portola Valley in San Mateo County witnessed an alarming surge in residential burglaries yesterday, as five separate incidents were reported by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The first burglary took place in the Town of Portola Valley between September 27 at 8:45 a.m. and 9:19 p.m., followed by four others in the Town of Woodside yesterday, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses recalled seeing three masked men wearing hooded sweatshirts, using force to enter three of the targeted residences. It was during one of these break-ins that a victim, who was at home during the crime, was confronted but thankfully remained unharmed. The suspects were seen using a white or blue sedan during the first reported burglary on Wednesday, and during the second one, it was observed that the suspects may have switched to a possibly black sedan. At this point in time, authorities are unsure if the suspects or vehicles are working together in tandem.
Various items were stolen during these burglaries, including jewelry, credit cards, and electronic equipment. The San Mateo County Detectives are actively following up on leads to address this immediate concern. While authorities are taking prompt action, they urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities by contacting the Sheriff’s Office as per the press release.
