Today, the SJPD reported the arrest of four suspects connected to a robbery and attempted murder case dating back to July 4, just two months prior.

San Jose officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Shadow Park Place on July 4th, resulting in the apprehending of an adult male with serious injuries, according to the SJPD. The police promptly secured the scene as it developed that the victim was caught in the crossfire of an armed robbery, committed by a group of suspects who narrowly evaded capture.

Detectives from the SJPD Robbery Unit mounted a methodical investigation that would ultimately lead to the identification of four individuals: Marco Gurrola (27), Jakei Matthews (25), Mykah Gurrola (20), and Erika Montes-Padilla (29). According to the official statement provided by the SJPD, arrests soon followed, as did search warrants for each of the suspect's residences.

By July 31, Marco Gurrola fell into the hands of the Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET). Upon his arrest, two firearms were recovered, further strengthening the case against him. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges that included possession of firearms, attempted homicide, and armed robbery.

The subsequent month bore witness to the apprehension of the remaining suspects. On September 5, both Jakei Matthews and Mykah Gurrola were taken into custody, respectively in San Jose and Milpitas. Erika Montes-Padilla was arrested in Cupertino. The trio joined Marco Gurrola in the Santa Clara County Main Jail, facing charges of attempted homicide and armed robbery.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the SJPD actively seeks further information on the case. The public is encouraged to provide any relevant information by contacting Detective Marte at the Robbery Unit or submitting anonymous tips via the P3TIPS mobile app, the tip line, or on the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program website. Those whose information leads to arrests are entitled to a cash reward.
