Yesterday, employees of a LoanMax in Salem, New Hampshire experienced the indelible terror of an armed robbery. According to CBS News Boston, a man entered the establishment, located just off Route 28, and tied up the employees before proceeding to rob the business at gunpoint.
LoanMax, a business that provides cash loans on car titles, most likely never anticipated an incident as harrowing as this. Surveillance footage from a nearby store shows the suspect entering the LoanMax and exiting just seven minutes later with a backpack in hand according to Patch report. The suspect's attire comprised of a blue sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, a black Bruins ball cap, and a medical mask as he eluded police by walking down the nearby Rail Trail, a popular pedestrian walkway.
It is still unclear how much money the suspect managed to flee with, but the real cost of this incident lies in the lasting psychological effects it will have on the victims involved.
In the meantime, the investigation into the LoanMax robbery continues. Anyone with more information or video evidence can contact the Salem Police Department at 603-893-1911 (NBC Boston). As the search narrows and the suspect, described as a white man in his 50s or 60s and approximately 6'2", is brought to justice, a wider analysis of our society and the violence it breeds becomes imperative.
