In response to the growing problem of unsheltered residents, the City of Chula Vista will host a workshop on October 5, thereby inviting the public to partake in the discourse surrounding this pressing issue. The event will take place in the City Council Chambers, located at 276 Fourth Avenue, commencing at 4 p.m. according to an official announcement.
At the workshop, staff from Chula Vista's Housing and Homeless Services Department and Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) will shed light on the state of unsheltered residents in the city, drawing from the most recent independent point-in-time count. The event also promises to offer updates on existing housing and services that are geared towards helping individuals tread the path to self-sufficiency. Further underlining the significance of the workshop, potential policy options, staff recommendations, and future steps will be under review.
Recognizing the urgency of such matters, the City of Chula Vista is keen on encouraging public participation and engagement. Those unable to attend the workshop in person may contribute their insights through e-comments. In addition, the event will be broadcast via livestream, providing interested residents with an opportunity to tune in. As stated on the city's website, Chula Vista City Council meetings and workshops are aired live on Cox Cable channel 24 (only in Chula Vista). The recorded meetings are also archived on the City's website for viewers to access.
