On a sunny Sunday, thousands of people laced up their sneakers and joined the ninth annual Live Well San Diego 5K and 1-mile Fun Run. The event, hosted by San Diego County in collaboration with 2-1-1 San Diego and presenting sponsor San Diego County Credit Union, aimed to encourage participants of all ages and abilities to promote their physical and mental well-being by getting outdoors and engaging in physical activities, according to County News Center.
The annual 5K run and 1-mile Fun Run are a part of San Diego County's broader vision to create a thriving community by focusing on three key areas: Building Better Health, Living Safely, and Thriving. Previous iterations of the run have seen tremendous success, attracting both locals and visitors to engage in the well-being-centric celebration.
At this year's event, awards were presented to the top finishers, while all participants received a finisher's medal and a commemorative t-shirt. The festivities extended beyond the races, encompassing an array of activities designed to promote overall well-being and community engagement.
Over 80 exhibitors set up booths at the Community Expo, offering information about local resources and providing attendees with the opportunity to explore the many wellness initiatives available in the area. A family fun zone featured games and activities to keep children entertained and active throughout the day. Event-goers also had the chance to take part in a group dance warm-up, cool-down activities, and a community yoga session.
