
Jesus Mendoza, a 28-year-old suspected gang participant, was arrested in Santa Rosa, California with a concealed firearm and several charges under his name yesterday,
According to a Santa Rosa Police Department news release, Mendoza was reportedly arrested in the parking lot of 1321 Guerneville Road by a Santa Rosa Police K-9 Officer and his partner. During the arrest, the officer discovered that Mendoza had two active Sonoma County warrants. Upon searching Mendoza, an unregistered 9mm semi-automatic handgun along with two loaded magazines were to discovered be hidden inside a satchel he was wearing.
As a result of his arrest, Mendoza now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm with a prior felony conviction, carrying a loaded firearm not registered to him, carrying a concealed firearm, and being a felon in possession of ammunition. His arrest adds to the ongoing discourse surrounding gun control, particularly in light of prior felonies and gang affiliations.
