On Sunday, a hiker found themselves injured on the Azalea Hill Road, a single-track trail that stretches across this expansive Northern California landscape. According to the CHP Golden Gate Division's Facebook page, the expertise of Ross Valley Fire, Marin County Fire Medic 95, the Marin County Water District, and the CHP's H-30 helicopter came together for the daring rescue.
With information on the injured hiker's GPS coordinates provided by the Woodacre Dispatch, the H-30 helicopter was able to swiftly arrive on the scene. As a team of firefighters hiked to the patient's location, the helicopter prepared for a complex hoist operation to expedite the hiker's rescue. A CHP Flight Officer/Paramedic was lowered, injured hiker wrapped in a rescue harness, and both parties hoisted back up to safety.
The rescued hiker, once hoisted, was transported by Medic 95 to a local hospital for treatment.
