
A residence in the 00 block of Crescent Drive experienced its third burglary in two years on thursday. According to the Palo Alto PD, around 8:30 p.m., an elderly couple confronted two intruders in their home. The suspects, whose race and gender are unknown, were a wearing all-black attire, including hooded sweatshirts, face masks, pants, shoes, and gloves.
The 24-hour dispatch center received a call from an alarm company, notifying them of the burglary in progress. Police arrived at the scene and spoke with the resident, a woman in her seventies, who recounted how the break-in unfolded. The woman and her husband had been asleep when their burglar alarm sounded. Upon investigation, she saw the two suspects inside their house downstairs. The fearless woman yelled at them, and the suspects fled the scene.
With two prior unsolved cases still open, it remains unclear whether the same suspects are responsible for all three burglaries, or if this incident was a purposeful and calculated attack on the residence. In their search for answers, police provided crime prevention tips and recommendations for securing homes, which included locking side yard gates and securing windows an doors overnight.
The earlier break-ins were reported on November 29, 2021, and February 23, 2022. The suspects in the most recent burglary still are at large.
